SY 49 SE BOTHENHAMPTON MAIN STREET,
South Side

2/27 Ab Antiquo

GV II

Detached former farmhouse. c.C17, much C20 alteration. Rubble stone
walls. Thatch roof, half-hipped at left hand and gabled at right
hand. Brick stacks at ridge, left of centre and right hand gable.
One storey. 3 windows, 2-light wooden casements with glazing-bars.
Wooden cills with segmental stone arch-voussoirs. Former bread oven,
projects out at left hand, semi-circular with a stone slab roof,
C17. Plank door, with ornamental strap-hinges, C20. Thatch porch
canopy on posts. Interior: south west angle has a stone spiral
staircase to the first floor. Fittings of bread oven removed,
possibly rebuilt at rear of fireplace.
