Shop, with store rooms and flat above, formerly house and
shop. C16 core; C19 alterations and extensions. Timber-framed
and rendered; roughcast to front, red brick to rear; slate
roofs, modillion eaves cornice.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellars. 2 window range: sashes
without glazing bars in cased frames. A late C20 shop front.
INTERIOR: cellars, below front range, are flint and brick
lined with heavy timber ceilings; divided into 2 by an
original partition wall. Both side walls are timber-framed:
fragmentary remains are visible at ground level on the east
side; the west wall has no framing exposed inside No.29, but
it also serves as part of the east side wall of the adjoining
building, where there are extensive wall paintings on its
outer surface (see entry for No.28, qv).
