Farmhouse, 1888, by Douglas & Fordham for the 1st Duke of Westminster,
Brown brick with blue diapering to upper storey; oak framed upper
storey to projecting front gable, to attic storey, left and to left
end gable. Red tile roof; the chimneys on gable, right, and rear rooF
slope, left of centre, have plinths and spiral moulded brick flues.
Two storeys and attic; 3 windows. Iron casements in openings have
bevelled mullions and recessed bevelled reveals and heads of
sandstone. Patterned leaded glazing survives only in hall window and
attic windows in front gable. Recessed porch under front gable,
right; framed and boarded door. Inscribed over the porch is "The
profit of the earth is for all; the King himself is served by the
field.", (cf. 31 Northgate Street, Chester) and "Every house is
builded by some man, but he that built all things is God: Hebrews
3.4".
The interior has no features of special interest.
