Town Hall 1885, by F & G Holme, in brickwork with terra cotta dres-
sing and slate roof. Symmetrical 9 window 2 storey facade. Gable
and centre entrance bays, which have large windows, are set forward.
Ornate segmental pediment to front entrance supported on console
blocks and twin pilasters; above this, at first floor level, there
are Griffins bearing shields. There are bands of tiles every 3
courses up to the first floor level string course, aprons to first
floor windows and swags and faces to keystones of second floor
windows. The windows are all sashes. There is a modillion eaves
cornice and above this a parapet part balustrade and part solid
brickwork. The roof has a reeded tile ridge and the chimneys pilaster
strips.
