Pair of cottages, perhaps originally one. C16 or earlier. Timber-framed and
plastered. Thatched roof. Plastered C20 chimney stack replacing C17 stack
with grouped shafts. One storey and attic; lobby entry plan. Two boarded
doors, one to right hand a later insertion. Four ground floor casement and
fixed-light windows. Two terracotta plaques with inscription 'Cambridge
Cottage Improvement Society' below dormer windows. Interior to right hand
cottage; mid C16 roll-moulded axial beam and joists to main room, and square
sectioned joists to end room. Sealed hearth. Cellar below main room with
external access to rear. The cottage was once a beer house.
