The railings, piers, gateway and screen wall on the East side of Principal Court
(Formerly listed as The railings, piers, gateway and screen wall on the East side of Principal Court, ST CATHERINE'S COLLEGE)
Circa 1780, the design probably by James Essex. The gateway has 2 ashlar piers with Roman Doric pilasters, these are a modern rebuilding to the original design. The gate is wrought-iron of 2 leaves. The railings on either side are spearhead and stand on a low brick screen wall. The North-east screen wall is brick with stone dressings. The central doorway has architrave and side pilasters.
