-
GV II
House, formerly farmhouse. Circa later C17 with C19 and C20 extensions. Rendered
rubble/cob walls. Hipped slate roof. Slightly projecting rendered rubble lateral
stack at front with offsets. Rendered brick stack at either gable end.
Originally 3-room and through-passage plan with lower room to right heated by gable
end stack and hall heated by front lateral stack with newel stairs at rear of
hall/inner room. Inner room may originally have been unheated. C19 dairy wing
added at rear of lower room with barn extension beyond it now converted. C20
extension behind inner room.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front of early-mid C19 16-pane sashes on first
floor and C20 facsimilies on ground floor. To right of centre is early C19 6-panel
door, top 2 glazed, middle 2 are fielded panels. At rear is shallow rectangular
stair projection to right of centre with small light and scantle slate roof. Single
storey dairy wing to its left and C20 outshut to the right.
Interior: plain wooden lintels to fireplaces may be replacements. Treads to newel
stairs have been replaced. Roof timbers not inspected but unlikely to be early as
the roof has evidently been raised.
