Walls and gardener's house. Late C18. Red sandstone with pyramidal slate roof
to house. High walls enclose garden on 3 sides with 2-storey single-bay house
forming integral part of the south-east wall. Clearly shown next to the house
on engraving, W. Hutchinson, History of Cumberland, 1794. Built directly on top
of and on the same alignment as the Roman Fort of Vxellodunum. See, W.
