House. 1637. For Rev L Dawes as rectory. Roughcast stone and slate roof.
North-west elevation of 2 storeys and 4 bays, the 2nd bay forming 2-storey
gabled porch with lean-to outshut to right return. Hollow-chamfered-mullioned
windows, those to ground floor with label moulds. 1st bay has 2-light window
with fire window to left; porch has light to left return and C20 casement to
lean-to; 3rd and 4th bays has 4-light windows, each retaining only one million.
1st floor has 3-light windows, that to porch with label, others with mullion
missing and horizontally sliding sash. Entrance has sunk triangular head and
studded door, panel in architrave above inscribed: "LD/ NON MIHI
SED/SUCCESSORIBUS/1637". Entrance to 4th bay. Gable-end stacks. South-east
elevation has varied fenestration and projecting lateral stack. 1st 3 bays have
lights to ground floor, larger casemented windows to 1st floor; 3rd bay has
chamfered windows with horizontally sliding sashes, hollow-chamfered fire window
to right, with similar light to 1st floor above. Plain entrance. Interior, not
inspected, has 2 ogee-headed doorways to 1st floor (see RCHM Inventory;
Westmorland). Outbuildings to gable ends of no special interest.
