House, now a Public House. C17, S end and false timbering on brick front
C19. Timber frame exposed in rear wall infilled with red brick.
Roughcast front and S end painted, and with black false timbering of
upper floor at front. Steep old red tile roof. A 2-storeys and cellar,
deep plan house facing E. Irregular 3 windows wide front with door
recessed in middle, 4-light mullioned casement window on left and deeper
4-light mullioned window on right under a tiled pentice roof on pierced
brackets. Pointed gabled tiled hood to door. Central sash window over
door and signboards in place of other upper windows. C19 moulded stucco
frame with concave quadrant corners on S gable with 'THE ROBIN
HOOD/BENSKINS.WATFORD'. Possibly built as part of nos. 2 to 5 adjoining,
q.v.
