21/134 The Old Vicarage
Former vicarage, now detached house. Mid-late C18; enlarged early
Cl9. Coursed rubble and dressed limestone; ashlar chimneys;
stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic. Front: earliest part to
right in coursed rubble with 2-light chamfered mullioned casement
fenestration, 2 to ground floor, 3 to upper floor with combining
hoodmoulds. Larger addition to left in dressed limestone has mixed
scattered fenestration including 2-light stone-mullioned casement
and 16-pane sash above doorway to right with gabled porch and 6-
panel door. Three eaves-mounted gabled roof dormers with timber
casements. Three ridge-mounted chimneys, one with moulded cap.
Interior not inspected. Former home of Thomas Dudley Fosbrooke,
county historian and vicar of the parish 1794-1811.
