Detached cottage. Dated 1774, enlarged to left in C20. Coursed
rubble stone with alternating flush quoins, stone slate roof, stone
end stack to right, concrete end stack to left. Originally single
range of 2 storeys, much enlarged to left in C20 section not of
special interest. Three windows, 2-light long plain stone mullions
with leaded casements to each side on each floor. First floor has
central large keyed oculus with later leading, and datestone over
with initials ODC and flanking inset smooth stones carved with sun
device. Ground floor has wide C20 gabled porch and door. Rear has
scattered small C20 single lights and high small central sculpted
panel with figure and rustic-carved date 1774. Initials may refer
to Cobb family whose contemporary gravestones in churchyard of
Church of St Lawrence (q.v.) have very similarly inscribed initials
and dates.
