TL 3612 GREAT AMWELL WALNUT TREE WALK
(north side)

11/8 Amwellbury Lodge

Gatelodge. Early C19. Painted brickwork with a steep hipped
slate roof. Yellow brick central chimney with red brick band.
Built as a small 2-storeys square lodge to Amwellbury with
rusticated brick quoins and projecting floor band. 2-windows to
each floor on each face. Recessed sash windows with high gauged
brick pointed arches and Gothic intersecting glazing bars in the
head. On ground floor the arches have projecting imposts.
Disturbed brickwork for earlier door on the S side facing the
drive. Window to left with recessed panel below. Narrower 2-
storeys rear extension with matching window and door on E face to
road. Segmental arched window to upper floor on W face. A
picturesque 2-storeys brick gatelodge in the early C19 'Gothic'
style.
