Vicarage, now house, and adjoining coach-house/stable. C17 origins to
house, with mid C19 extension to rear; alterations and additions of 1861 by
James Fowler of Louth included re-roofing, new porch, kitchen extension,
coach-house and courtyard. Renovations of c1980. Coursed limestone rubble
to main range of house, red brick to mid C19 extension; later additions in
squared limestone. Welsh slate roofs. House L-shaped on plan: original 3-
room south front with entrance hall and later porch to left, kitchen wing to
rear right and mid C19 closet extension (now rear entrance porch) in angle;
walled courtyard and coach-house/stable block to right. House: 2 storeys
with attic, 3 first-floor windows. Projecting gabled porch to left of
centre with deep chamfered plinth, recessed board door beneath ashlar lintel
with shaped imposts, rubble relieving arch and ornate bargeboards; slit
windows to returns. C20 16-pane sashes, C20 full-length first-floor window
to right. C19 gabled dormer above entrance with 4-pane sliding sash,
crested ridge tiles. Corniced end stack to left, axial stack to right.
Coach-house/stables: rectangular on plan with central lobby and tackroom
flanked by stable to right and carriage-house and stores to left. Single
storey and attic central single-bay section flanked by single-storey 2-bay
wing to left, single-bay wing to right; linked to house by courtyard walls
to left and right. Central segmental-pointed arch to open lobby with board
doors to rooms. 2-light casement to right beneath segmental-pointed arch.
Pair of board doors to carriage house beneath timber lintel. Two doorways
to left (one blocked) with segmental-pointed arches. Attic pitching hatch
to centre beneath segmental-pointed arch. Gabled central section with
corniced stack to left; hipped roofs to wings. Coped courtyard walls to
each side, that to right with coped piers flanking entrance, that to left
with segmental-pointed arch doorway. Interior of house contains beamed
ceilings with exposed joists, massive axial stack. The original 3-bay
"mansion house" is recorded in C17-C18 Glebe Terriers.
