8/55 House and linking wall
attached to south-west
of Hellens

GV II

Stable block, now house. Probably late C18. Brick with tiled roof and
central stack to south side. Rectangular plan aligned roughly east/west.
South elevation: two storeys, six windows; four partly blocked segmentally-
headed windows to ground floor, first floor has an 8-pane and a 9-pane
window to left of central off-ridge stack and four matching barred windows
to right; two entries: both to right of centre; attached to centre is early
C20 portico with four Tuscan columns and a pantiled roof. Attached to east
end is a high mainly C20 brick wall with a triangular-headed archway which
links the stable block to the south-west corner of Hellens (qv). The stable
block and wall complement the south side of Hellens. Included for group value.
