south-south-east of the
Church of St George

GV II

Lychgate. Probably C17, restored in late C19 to early C20. Sandstone side
plinths, timber-framed with stone slate roof. One bay aligned north/south.
South elevation: corner posts with restored pegged angle struts to tie-beam
from which scissor-braces support principals; gates, probably C18 with con-
temporary hinges, plate and handle. Side walls have posts and panels, probably
c1900. Matching rear truss to north is only slightly restored though inner
gates beneath are probably C20. (RCHM Vol II, p 221).
