House. c1620, extended late C19. Part timber-framed with rendered infill
on tall brick plinth, part brick; plain tiled roofs, half-hipped at east end.
L-plan; original part of a single-framed bay aligned east/west with an
external chimney at its west gable end; extended in C19 by a two-bay north
return with a gable end stack and a single-bay addition at its east gable
end. Original part of one storey and attic with a dormer; C19 north return
of two storeys with dentilled eaves cornice. Framing: two panels from sill
to wall-plate, short straight braces in upper corners, west gable end has a
collar and tie-beam truss with one strut visible. West front elevation:
ground floor has a 12-pane sash window and a square light, both with cambered
heads; first floor has an 8-pane sash window; central entrance has a gabled
canopy on shaped brackets with moulded bargeboards and finial, and a ledged
and battened door with a cambered head; external chimney of older part is
situated to the right. Interior: framing appears intact. The house was once
part of the Vernon Estate and was sympathetically altered in the C19.
