II

Cottage. Early C17. Timber frame with colour-washed plaster infill, thatch
roof and brick central stack. 2-unit baffle entry plan and attached
contemporary stable. One storey and attic with one eyebrow and one full
dormer. Old plank door. Casement windows, mostly C20. Stable on right is
now part of cottage, with 2 windows inserted into original doorways. Exposed
framing to end wall, and small amount to rear. Rear has outshut on right with
roof sweeping very low. Projection for bread oven. Interior: Winder stairs,
broad chamfered ceiling beams, and exposed framing, 2 open fireplaces,
bread oven in room on left. Room on right has very simply modelled face inside
fireplace. Several old plank doors. On right mid C20 cross wing with sham
timber framing.
