7/286 Sansomes Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Late C16. Square-panelled timber-framing, half-hipped
thatched roof, axial brick stack. Baffle-entry, 3 bays. One
storey and attic, 1-window. Entrance to rear; planked door to
left, to right are two 2-light and two 1-light plastic-framed
windows. Attic has one 2-light casement. Left return has one 2-
light plastic-framed casement to ground and first floors. Right
return has C19 Flemish bond brick lean-to extension. Front has
four casements to ground floor and one to attic.
Interior not accessible at time of survey but said to have
chamfered beams and exposed joists with ogee stops, open fireplace
with timber lintel on brick jambs, timber-framed partitions and
timber-framed chimney to first floor. Original roof has one tier
of butt purlins and wind bracing. (Unpublished records of RCHM
