Cheshire Street Baths

1899. The first building erected under the Baths and Washhouses Acts of Queen
Red brick with white stone banding to upper floor, ground floor rendered and painted.
Coped brick parapet, slate roof. 2 storeys, 7 windows, sashes in architrave
surrounds, those of ground floor with pediments. All windows with glazing bars.
Double arched doorway with keystones and 3 light window with mullions and transom
between. Entablature with cornice and architrave extends overall. Frieze above
each door contains decorative moulding with small figures holding name panels.
1 storey western extension, 2 light and semi-circular windows. Louvred cupola.
Eastern facade has decorative shield with date panel in gable end. Doorway supports
a 2 storey oriel bay with round window above door and 2 light window above. Modillion
cornice. Below oriel, massive brackets and cornice with carved angels in return.
The Cheshire Street Baths form a group with the Robert Montefiore School (Annexe),
