Early C18 pair, each three storeys and basement, three windows. Light red brick with modillioned cornice of bright red brick and parapet above. Rusticated brick quoins. Gauged segmental brick arches to sash windows with glazing bars. Four stone steps, with wrought iron handrails, to paired doors of eight panels (now top glazed) in moulded architraves. Carved consoles support cornice hoods broken back in centre.

No 3 (Essex Coach House) form a group with No 4 (Essex House) and No 5 (Arnoside House and Arnoside Cottage) and the forecourt railings and gates.
