Circa 1895. A continuous range flanking the road. Red brick. Office portion
(3 windows) 2-storeyed, the stores 3-windowed all with semi-circular heads of
yellow brick and small-paned cast iron windows, lacking glass and generally damaged;
3 doorways with segmental heads and ledged doors; stone inscribed S Garratt and
Son and above date; slates, partly stripped by vandals. Disused and generally
in dilapidated condition. Included for group value.

Winding engine house at the former New Hawne Colliery, Fan house and chimney at
the former New Hawne Colliery and Offices, workshops and stores at the former
New Hawne Colliery form a group.
