GV II

Workhouse, district hospital after 1948, now mental handicapped
unit. 1836. Ashlar limestone, asbestos slate roof. Two storeys
rather small in scale. Central gabled block of 5 window bays, with
further bay each side, and wings each of 6 bays. Raised quoins and
string course. Sixteen-paned sash windows, renewed 1980's.
Dedication panel in gable with date. Central rear wing of 8 bays,
and end lateral wings each of 8 bays forming double plan. Interior
altered, not of special interest.
