Includes No. 19 Chestnut Walk.
Almshouse. Circa 1912. Red brick with raised quoins, swept hipped roofs with semi-
dormers to east and west and one ridge stack. Single storey and attic under dormers.
1 window in each face. Entrance in re-entrant angles to north with flat hood on
corner rusticated brick pier. Half-glazed door.
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores and was for
thrifty old folk, being laid out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson, employing
leading architects of the day.
