Cross base. Probably C18 but possibly earlier origins.Yellow/grey sand-
stone ashlar. 4 circular steps with moulded nosings. Square socket.
This structure is identified as a cross base in late OS Churchwardens'
Accounts. V.C.H., Vol. VIII, p.72.
