approx. 2m E of chancel of
Church of St. Andrew

GV II

Pair of chest tombs. Circa 1756 and late C18. Limestone. Rectangular with
moulded plinth and capping. Townsend memorial has square corner balusters and
inscription panels flanked by fluted pilasters. Inscription to north in memory
of John (d.1743), Sarah (d.1728) and William (d.1758), the children of John and
Rebekah Townsend (d.1756 and 1736 respectively) commemorated on rectangular
inscription panel to east end. Unidentified chest tomb to south has plain corner
pilasters and inscription panel to south illegible at time of resurvey (August
1987).
