Marked on map as nos 6, 8, 10 and 12. Commercial premises. C17 with C18
refronting and additions and further alterations and additions C19 and C20.
Brick, rendered at rear; plain tile roofs. 2 storeys, 5 bays in all with rear
wings. Road front: 2, 2, 3 bays, nos 8 and 10 of brick in flemish bond
painted; no 6 with rebuilt facade in stretcher bond; late C20 brick pier at
left end (part of rebuilt gable wall). Each has shop front, no 6 is late C20,
no 10 is late C19 having 2 doors, pilasters on plinths and corbels flanking
entablature; no 8 is (the best) late C19, having similar pilasters, metal
grille over windows, fluted corbels with flower panels above flanking fascia
board, and sun canopy box. On 1st floor, windows have flush wood frames and
flat brick arches: 2-pane sashes to no 10, 12-pane sashes to no 8, 4-pane
sashes to no 6. Coped parapet. Roof lower at left end and rising in hip
between 1st and 2nd bays. Stack at right end in front roof pitch. Rear: no 6
has mid-late CZO flat-roofed addition, not of special interest; no 8 has
paired gabled wings with C20 windows, eaves band and broad cross-ridge stack
to right wing; further right a shallower gabled wing with brownish brick in
English garden wall pond exposed, from which project a narrow gabled bay on
left, and 2 other wings on R. Interior: no 10 has some old board doors and
on 1st floor, on right, an arched brace rises from front wall to tie-beam. No
10 not inspected, but reported to contain Georgian-panelled passage and board
doors (Domestic Building Research Group, report no 3637). Included for group
