SJ 95 SE
5/29
Folly tower approx.
- 50m south-west of
the Bath House

GV II

Folly. Early C19. Rock-faced coursed stone; flat roof invisible
behind crenellated corbelled parapets, Castellar-style. Small plan
stepped down a bank of circular tower with attached circular stair
tower. The main tower is of 2 storeys lit by 2-light stone mullioned
windows, the stair tower to the north-east rises to 3 storeys;
entrance to rear. Built as a group with the Bath House (q.v.) and
presumably intended to form a prospect never fully realised. The
pair are just visible from Basford Hall (q.v.), but do not relate to
an approach.
