The Plumbers Arms Public House

GV II

Public house. Probably late C18, altered. Roughcast with grey
slate roof with ridge at right-angle to front.
3 storeys of one bay. The early C20 front to the first storey
is timber-framed with patterned brick panels and window with
leaded panes; leaded glazing in upper part of framed and
boarded door; overlight; 4 timber pilasters with recessed
panels; dentil cornice. The second and third storeys each has
a central recessed 12-pane sash in a timber case, that to the
third storey being shorter. Panel in face of parapet inscribed
THE PLUMBERS' ARMS in recessed Roman capitals. 2 lateral
chimneys, south.
The Flemish bond brown brick rear has a one-storey flat-roofed
extension, a replaced casement and an inserted wide metal
window to the second storey; a 16-pane recessed sash with
painted stone sill and wedge lintel to the third storey; flush
eaves.
INTERIOR: the plan of a small-roomed public house is partly
retained, but with no visible features of special interest.
