House, now divided into flats. 1902 by J. Belcher in a classical style with later
extensions to the right end. Purple-brown brick with red brick angle quoins and
dressings, plain-tiled roofs, part renewed and hipped above, over wooden eaves
cornice. Asymmetrical plan and elevation of approx. 4 bays. Two storeys and
attics to left, one storey and attics to right with thick modillioned eaves
cornice and stacks to left, under stone-coping, and at right end. One flat-roofed
dormer to left, two flat-roofed dormers to right. Two mullioned and transomed
casement windows on the ground floor to right under gauged-brick heads, one
narrow mullioned and transomed casement window to left. Projecting two storey
entrance bay to left of centre with one side canted and the other at right angles
to the front. Shaped gable over cornice with red brick newels flanking, under
stone coping, and stone panel and cartouche with flanking columns in tympanum.
One casement window on the first floor of the porch under a gauged-brick head
placed to right of centre, brick-edged roundel window below. One single-light
window on each floor of canted angle to left. Panelled door to left of centre on
ground floor under massive shell hood on scrolled foliage brackets and with ribbed
lead covering. Frieze across the hood is inscribed "The blessings of God be
herein". Left hand return front - facing garden: Two, flat-roofed dormers in
roof, canted bay on the ground floor. Large tile-hung dormer to the left with
wooden balcony railing. Right hand return front - facing street. Irregular front
with M-shaped gable bisected by a stack to the right. Semi-circular dormer to
left.
Interior:- Entrance hall - coved ceiling and fielded panels on doors. Central
newel-plan staircase with pierced splat-baluster balustrade and keystoned arcades
in front.
