Pair of houses, part of terrace, early C19. Yellow brick with
stucco cornice and blocking course.
3 storeys and basement, 1 bay each with outer 2-storey, 1-bay
entrance extension to No.53; entrance to No.55 on return.
Ground-floor openings round-headed, 6-panel door to No.53 with
timber fluted quarter columns and cornice head. Windows in
slightly projecting sections are sashes with glazing bars in
stucco lined reveals, those to upper floors with flat,
gauged-brick arches. 1st-floor windows taller, with decorative
cast-iron balconies and stucco sill band.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: cast-iron hand rail and area railings.
