GV II

Garden wall, railings and gate. C18. Brick wall with stone
coping surmounted by good cast-iron railings with urn finials
and scroll pattern panels. Gateway with scroll pattern panels
and overthrow with Windsor lantern. HISTORICAL NOTE: the wall,
railings and gateway feature in Ford Maddox Brown's painting
"Work", 1852, inspired by seeing navvies at work on
Hampstead's main drainage.
