Presbytery to Roman Catholic Church
of St Joseph

GV II

Presbytery. Probably c1865-7. Red brick in English garden wall
bond with blue brick bands, hipped slate roof. Rectangular
plan plus a porch-bay to the right.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys: 6-window range. 2 pairs of windows to the
main range and another pair to the porch-bay. The latter,
slightly set back, has a segmental-pointed doorway with
polychrome brick head, keystone and hoodmould, and a pair of
narrow segmental-headed 1/1 sashes above.
The main range has a canted bay window to the left, with
segmental-headed 1/1 sashes which have polychrome heads, and a
shallow hipped roof; a pair of tall segmental-headed sashed
windows to the right. 2 pairs of similar but shorter windows
at first floor, all these windows with stepped surrounds and
those at first floor with continuous sills to each pair.
Chimney in centre of roof. Very large stair window in
right-hand return wall.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms group with associated Church of St Joseph (qv).
