Pink Cottage

House. Circa late C17/early C18; extended late C20. Colour-washed stone rubble. Slate roof with gabled ends. Projecting stone rubble lateral stack on front with weathered set-offs and roughcast shaft.
PLAN: 2-room plan; larger right-hand room heated from lateral stack at the front, and smaller unheated room on the left; central entrance gives directly into the right-hand room, but originally there might have been a cross-passage. Late in the C20 a single-storey extension was built on higher ground at the back, and is connected by a first floor level doorway.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window east front; circa C18/19 2-light casements with glazing bars, ground floor right replaced; central doorway with C20 door and canopy; and with projecting lateral stack on right. Small casement windows on left [S] gable-end. Single-storey extension on higher ground at rear, with hipped roof.
INTERIOR: Both ground floor rooms have broad chamfered joists; later partition between the two rooms, and staircase boxed at rear; lateral fireplace in right-hand room is blocked by C20 fireplace. 3-bay roof, the trusses halved, crossed and pegged at the apex, and with collars halved, lapped and pegged to the principals; trenched purlins, diagonal ridgepiece and common-rafters intact.
