Terraced houses. c1825. Probably by Amon Wilds and Charles
Augustine Busby. Stucco and yellow brick set in Flemish bond,
roof obscured by parapet.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement, No.1 of 7 windows,
double-fronted, Nos 2 and 3 four windows each. Rusticated
ground floor; steps up to flat-arched entrance framed by
pilasters with incised ornament and entablature, that to No.3
retaining dentil cornice; doorcase with sidelights and
overlight, No.1 having panelled door of original design, the
doors to Nos 2 and 3 now partly glazed. Nos 2 and 3 have
additional rusticated lintels with keystones within the porch.
Full-height segmental bays, 2 to No.1, one each to Nos 2 and
3; all windows flat-arched those to first and second floor
with stucco architraves, and those to first floor with
cornices; No.1 has a broad central window to first floor, set
forward, and a similar window to second floor set back;
ground-floor windows and sidelights to No.1 decorated with
late C19 or early C20 engraved glass for the Phoenix Brewery,
with Egyptian decoration and phoenixes; moulded stucco cornice
and parapet.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Balustrade carried on segmental arches to ground floor windows
and continued to steps; low garden walls to street between
round-topped piers with decorative rings; cast-iron railings
with scrolled brackets and spearhead finials, originally to
steps and walls but now lacking to steps, and to walls of
No.1.
