Cow house with pigeon house at Brook
House Farm

GV II

Cow house and pigeon house. Early C18 (pre-1746), with later
alterations. Reddish brick with plain-tile roof. T-shaped on
plan.
EXTERIOR: cowhouse: single-storey. Row of round-arched
openings with moulded brick surrounds, some blocked. Stepped
and cogged eaves band. Raised brick gable to right end. Right
gable end has pigeon openings and ledges.
Pigeon house to rear has semi-circular recess to gable end
with openings and landing ledges.
INTERIOR: cowhouse: queen-strut collar-and-tie-beam rafter
roof.
Pigeon house: roof has tie-beam truss with angle braces.
Cowhouse abutts threshing barn (qv) to left.
Farm buildings around the yard also include stables (qv), cart
shed (qv) and pigsties (qv). Brook House Farmhouse (qv)
completes the group.
