ALDERMINSTER

SP24NW Alderminster Lodge

GV II

House. c1830. Stuccoed brick; tile roof with brick stacks.
Victorian Tudor style. Double-depth plan with cross-wing to
left and lower double-depth service wing to right return.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; 2-window range. Blind end to
cross-wing has projecting end stack with 3 square shafts.
Enriched fascia boards to deep eaves and bargeboards. Central
entrance has gabled porch with ogival hood to pointed arch,
and inner door. Ground floor has window with wooden
cross-mullioned frame to paired margin-light sashes with
4-centred heads; 2 similar windows to 1st floor and similar
2-light attic window; conservatory to cross-wing.
Service range has plainer windows with paired sashes. Left
return has gable to right with windows as to front and lateral
stack to left.
Rear has cross-wing projecting to right with canted bay window
and 3-light window to left; cross-mullioned windows above.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Important location by Church of St Mary and Holy Cross (qv)
and on bank of River Stour.
