Higher Dinting Farmhouse

Farmhouse. 1728 with C20 alterations. Narrow coursed millstone
grit, with tooled stone dressings and stone slate roof with
coped gables and kneelers. 2 stone stacks with watertabling.
PLAN: 3-unit baffle entry plan with services to rear, extended
later.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Quoins. Street front has irregular 4
window facade. Off-centre main doorway to right with C20 door,
chamfered surround and ornately carved lintel inscribed:- 'W/
I D/ 17 28' within shaped medallion. To left inscribed roundel
containing star and to right another roundel containing
initials SW. To left 2 and to right single 4-light casements
in chamfered surrounds with surviving central mullions, and
beyond to left single doorway with C20 glazed door and
chamfered surround. Above 2 similar, slightly smaller, windows
to left and to right 2-light casement window in flush ashlar
surround and beyond single 4-light casement in chamfered
surround with surviving central mullion. All windows have C20
casements.
Left return blank, with 2-light chamfered mullion window in
outshut. Right return has doorway in squared surround and
single window above.
Rear has 2 storey added outshut.
INTERIOR: retains original beams on ground floor.
