churchyard of Church of St George

GV II

Chest tomb. c1780, restored 1968. Portland stone chest tomb
with a marble lid . The chest has fielded panels to the sides
and ends and is inscribed: 'The family tomb of Mary Peard
dated 31 December 1780 was restored in 1968 by the Mary Peard
Trust'. Decayed inscription on lid and inscriptions to William
Dickinson, d.1955 and his wife, d.1867.
HISTORY: Mary Peard donated ยป1,000 to the Church of St George
(qv).
