GV II

Office building. c1925. Steel frame with brick and render
cladding. Roof not visible. Stripped Classical style.
3 storeys and full attic storey. Large E-shaped block with
chamfered corners. 9 bays either side of central entrance
feature, clearly articulated by the structure. Additional bays
to corners, and eastern and western wings of 9 and 11 bays.
Projecting entrance block rising to stepped parapet above the
attic storey. Central segmentally-arched doors, and
full-height arched recess above, housing tripartite windows on
each floor, with flanking narrow lights each side. Above the
keystone of the arch is inscribed 'Dock Office'. Flanking bays
each contain steel-framed windows in recesses with moulded
aprons between. Heavy projecting cornice above, and paired
windows to each attic bay.
