Pair of semi-detached houses. c1840-60. Stucco over brick with
hipped slate roof and stuccoed party-wall and end stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 1:1:4:1:1 first-floor windows. The facade
breaks forwards twice. First-floor band, to central
breakforward are paired end pilasters and between windows.
First floor has 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes, ground floor has
outer 2/2 sashes with central tripartite window with 2/2
between 1/1 sashes in wider, elliptically-arched recesses.
Entrances to second and 5th bays, 6-panel doors with fanlights
in plain round-arched reveals and with tooled arch to head on
corbel brackets. Louvred shutters to ground floor at right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Painswick Road was laid out by Charles Baker
to connect Cheltenham with Painswick following an Act of 1820.
Part of a good group of villas.
