KNUTSFORD
KING STREET
(East side)

Nos.57, 59 AND 61

II

GV

Three houses, now a row of 3 shops. Late C16-early C17.
Timber-framed, rendered to front elevation. Welsh slate roof.
Each now a single-unit plan, with low upper storey, but
internal layouts have been extensively modified over time. 2
low storeys, 6-window range. Inserted shop fronts to ground
floor, and renewed upper windows.
INTERIOR: timber-framing exposed to interiors, particularly in
No.61, where ceiling has been removed to reveal square
panelling to walls, with jowelled corner posts, and queen post
roof with wind bracing. Nos 59 & 57 each have decorative
panelled ceilings which are probably early C17 to upper rooms:
that to No.59 has central laurel wreath lozenge with strapwork
centre-piece, flanked by angels with trumpets in high relief.
Similar lozenge and strapwork to No.57.
