Milestone. C19. Stone slab with rounded top and cast-iron plaque (both painted white) with raised lettering (painted black). Inscribed 'TO ASHBY DE LA ZOUCH 1, TO LEICESTER 16'. A triangulation point marking has been inscribed into the lower part of the face of the milestone. This is an intact example and was the first milestone outside Ashby on the former Ashby to Leicester turnpike road built in 1753.
