GV II

House, now shop with accommodation over. Mid C18 front, heightened and shop front added early C19, altered 1991.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roof, roof only visible at rear.
PLAN: Double depth plan with rear extension.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and attic, three windows wide. Ground floor has c1830 (altered 1991) shop front with slight bow, eight/five panes, flanked by doors, four on right to house above, five on left to shop. The right hand door is narrower, with six panels; the left hand door is two panels with three/three panes over. Both have narrow panelled jambs with paterae, and lozenge glazed fanlights. Above, the windows are six/six pane sashes of late C18 type with plain reveals. Moulded cornice above second floor, this has breaks forward at either end, expressed as capitals of nonexistent pilasters. Attic storey has six/six sashes. Coped parapet, roof not visible from street. Rear elevation shows heightened attic in ashlar with three sashes, six/six, slate roof.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: John Wood in his "Essay towards a Description of Bath", 1749, says that there are fourteen houses in Beau Street, but it seems unlikely that this is one of them.
