Public house. Early to mid C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar or dressed stone, part painted, pantile or slate roofs.
PLAN: Parallel range property with double gable to right, facing Tyning Road.
EXTERIOR: Front range facing road painted, with pantile roof, in two storeys, two windows, all twelve-pane sashes, to sill band at first floor. Central square porch has concrete block cheeks below flat entablature with cornice and blocking course. Gables are coped, with ashlar stacks. Return to right has four-pane sash in blocked former doorway, and rear range, with slate roof, has four-pane sashes at each level. Long service block in single storey returns along Tyning Road to its junction with Gladstone Road, providing important visual boundary to street at this point.
INTERIOR: Much altered and opened out in 1980s. Skittle alley to rear was formed from former stables and smithery. Horseshoe at west end of long row of buildings of townscape value at this part of North Road, opposite high boundary wall to Prior Park (qv).
