First World War memorial, 1920, with later additions for the Second World War.
Corston War Memorial stands in the churchyard of the Grade II-listed Church of All Saints, close to the church’s north aisle and the tower. Built of Bath stone, c2.3m tall, the memorial consists of a medieval-style lantern-cross with a canopied top ornately decorated with crocketed finials. Scenes from the life of Christ are carved in relief on each side of the lantern, including the Crucifixion. The lantern is set on an octagonal column which rises from a chamfered, square plinth. The plinth stands on a square step. Vessels for flowers are placed on the step alongside the north and south sides of the plinth.
A copper plaque on the front face of the plinth is inscribed with the principal dedication IN MEMORY OF THE BRAVE MEN OF CORSTON/ WHO DIED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919/ (NAMES)/ “GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS”. A further plaque on the rear of the plinth reads THESE ALSO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE 1939-1945 WAR/ (NAMES)/ “WE WILL REMEMBER THEM”.

Corston War Memorial was unveiled and dedicated by Prebendary M E Hoets, Rural Dean of Keynsham, in May 1920. Funded by public subscription, it was designed by M A Green RIBA, and executed by the builder F J Blackmore of Twerton. Details of those who died fighting during the Second World War were added at a later date. The memorial was refurbished in 2010 by Orchard Stonemasons of Silverton, Devon, funded jointly by Corston Parish Council and Corston Parochial Church Council, with the aid of a grant from the War Memorials Trust.
Corston War Memorial, situated in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, Corston, is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* Historic Interest: as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community, and the sacrifices it made in the conflicts of the C20;
* Group Value: with the Grade II-listed Church of All Saints.
