Description

1800-10, E facing U-plan single storey range of cottages;
1 4-bay and 2 3-bay dwellings. Harl pointed rubble, tooled
rubble dressings. Symmetrical 3-bay cottages, 1 N facing, 1 S
facing, with centre doors sheltered by later projecting
gabled porches flanked by windows, some former doors,
linked by 4-bay E/W range. 9-pane glazing; wallhead and end
stacks; graded local slate roofs.
Interior: empty and deteriorating.

Statement of Interest

Said to have been the grieve's house. Elizabeth Grant

records that by 1808 all farm offices had been removed

from around the Doune mansionhouse to 'the back of the hill',

the site of present steading.
