Description

House; dated 1865; 2-storey asymmetrical gabled house with
entrance in projecting gabled porch in south elevation;
coursed tooled rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. Canted
bay window rises full height in south front; further canted
bay in ground floor only in east elevation with Sutherland
coronetted insignia in gable above. Mullion and transom,
tripartite and bipartite windows; 2-pane glazing; corniced
ridge and wallhead stacks; deep eaved slate roof.
Laundry; 1865. Single storey and dormerless attic, 3-bay
laundry; harl rubble, rubble dressings.
Centre door in south elevation; 3 small loft vents at eaves in
front and 2 in rear elevations; bipartite with centre wooden
mullion in east gable; multi-pane glazing. Shaped skewputts
project in gable ends supporting simple barge-boards;
end stacks; slate roof.
Interior; simple interior with wash boiler in east ground
floor room. Loft intended for clothes drying with wallhead
vents and gable end windows slotted stays affixed to tie
beams through which poles were slung on which to hang washing.
Walled garden; large rubble walled garden with shaped dressed cope.
