Description

John Baxter, circa 1790. N facing 2-storey, symmetrical 5-bay
house with return gable to Charlotte Street. Mixed rubble,
red sandstone rubble gables, tooled sandstone ashlar
dressings and margins. Centre door in round-headed recessed
entrance flanked by ground floor windows set behind shallow
blind arcade. Narrow 1st floor windows; 2 windows in ground
and 1st floors to Charlotte Street with centre round-headed
attic window square-headed attic windows in W gable; 2-pane
glazing.
Moulded coped end stacks; graded Banffshire slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Mirrored with the Manse, No 11 The Square (1788). Originally

constructed to serve as town hall and school.
