Description

Late 18th century. Picturesquely sited country house of 2 and 3 storeys over a basement. Unusual plan form being only 1 room deep. Squared and coursed rubble with ashlar dressings.

MAIN ELEVATION: Central block 3 storeys with side central entrance bay flanked by 2 full-height, 3-window bows, 2 lower, 2-bay, 2-storey wings. Central pilastered and pedimented doorpiece with decorative fanlight. Windows all 12-pane sash and case, those to the centre of the bows blind. Tall stacks on outer wall of 3-bay section.

REAR ELEVATION: built into slope, additional covered rear access corridor.

INTERIOR: simply detailed and chimneypieces now lost. Access to the wings, probably intended for service functions is surprisingly limited.
